Australia are making their deepest run ever as the host of the 2023 World Cup.

Sam Kerr and company have gotten to this point by narrowly edging Nigeria to win Group B. They then beat Denmark in the Round of 16 and France by penalty kicks in the quarterfinals.

England won Group D with a strong seven-goal differential. In the knockout round, they beat Nigeria by penalty kicks and forward Lauren James was given a red card for stepping on the back of Michelle Alozie. She was suspended for two games and will miss the semifinal match. The team then went on to beat Colombia in the quarterfinals.
